The International Day of the Air Traffic Controller is observed and celebrated every year on October 20. On that occasion, Vlado Bagarić, Director General of Croatia Control, extended his greetings to all air traffic controllers:
Dear air traffic controllers, I would like to use this occasion to congratulate you on your hard and professional work and thank you for everything you have been doing to keep air traffic safe.
Unfortunately, this International Day of the Air Traffic Controller is also being commemorated in the shadow of the negative impact of the pandemic on our company, but given the circumstances, you should be even prouder of yourselves and the fact that with your daily work and effort, you have been supporting the regular functioning of our company which is of exceptional value to the Republic of Croatia.
Despite the development of technology, the human factor is, and it surely will be in the future, key to the system of air traffic management, because every minute, every day, air traffic controllers are the ones who take care of passengers and cargo arriving to their destinations safely. This extremely important and responsible role is something we should be aware and immensely proud of.
That is why the establishment of the comprehensive national air traffic controller training system is very important for the profession itself and our system. Thanks to that, for the first time in independent Croatia, we have a chance to develop the existing and new knowledge in the profession by ourselves, as well as fully control the training process of our new colleagues, to become a center of knowledge in the region. For a long time now, I have no doubt that we can do it, now we have just gotten a chance to show it to everyone. I am confident that we will use it to our advantage!
Thank you for everything and I sincerely wish you a successful and safe YOUR day!
