Croatia Control (CCL) dedicated its Annual Report 2018 to the historical success of the Croatia national football team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup by illustrating it with photographs of Vatreni from Russia and their return home.
A year ago, they were welcomed home by Boris Mrkonja, Approach Surveillance Controller and Deputy Head of Zagreb ACC, who also guided the bronze-medal-winning Croatia national football team of 1998 on their way home from France to Croatia.
“Our dear Vatreni, the participants of the Russia 2018 Croatian football storm, Croatia Control proudly greets you and welcomes you into Croatian airspace. Thank you for the demonstrated togetherness and team spirit, with a single word to be added: NEOPISIVO (indescribable),” Mrkonja said.
The historical 2018 was the year of Croatian football, and a record year for CCL and Croatian aviation. Air traffic controllers handled 640 thousand aircraft, which is an increase of more than 10 percent compared to the previous year. The double-digit traffic increase also brought a revenue increase of almost 9 percent compared to 2017, i.e. the revenue amounted to 114.5 million euro.
In his Annual Report 2018 introductory message, CCL’s DG Vlado Bagarić thanked all employees for their contribution to the most successful year in CCL’s history, which “has shown that we as a team can ensure the continued success despite all challenges,” CCL’s DG said.
